Summer activities include:
- The Zeke Jones California Wrestling Camp attracts over 250 participants. Jones is the well-known head wrestling coach at West Virginia University.
- The Quest program for area middle school students: CSUMB hosts this program, which serves about 180 children. The program is a collaboration between Monterey Peninsula College and school districts throughout the Monterey Peninsula and Salinas. The students create websites, design roller coasters and-perhaps most fun-build model rockets. (Fortunately for campus residents, the rockets only have a range of several hundred feet.)
- The 7th Annual Herman Edwards Football Camp, held in June, attracts over 500 people to CSUMB. Edwards, a Monterey High graduate who played football at Monterey Peninsula College in 1973, was named Head Coach of the New York Jets of the National Football League in January 2001.
- Pete Newell's Tall Women and Girls' Basketball Camp is personally coached by Hall-of-Famer Pete Newell Sr. Separately, Newell's Basketball Coaching Clinic offers specialized coaching tips and a Q & A session with legendary coach Newell.
- Other events include the Monterey Bay Youth Basketball Tournament; the Girls' Volleyball Individual Camp for grades 6-12; the STX Boys' and Girls' Lacrosse Camp in early August; and the Jay Robinson Wrestling Camp, led by the acclaimed coach from the University of Minnesota.
