Beginning in January 2003, the Institute for Community Collaborative Studies (ICCS), in collaboration with the Panetta Institute, offers a new public policy emphasis within the existing Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. The degree program will prepare a new generation of policymakers to assume leadership positions in increasingly complex public policy environments at the local, regional, state, national, and international levels.

Under the direction of Dr. Kim Judson, Director of the Institute for Community Collaborative Studies, the program is the first in the entire CSU system to focus on federal, as well as local, policy-making issues.

"With its unique focus on ethical leadership and coursework that is truly interdisciplinary, this program embodies the CSUMB Vision," says President Peter Smith.

According to institute director Leon Panetta, "The Panetta Institute and CSUMB have an extraordinary opportunity to provide a master's in public policy program that will train a new generation of men and women as leaders to meet the great policy changes that lie ahead."
