Dining with Authors
CSUMB and the National Steinbeck Center co-sponsor "The Author's Table" to raise money for each organization's reading programs. The event brings together 13 well-known authors with over 225 guests, who dine at one of 13 elegant homes or historic sites in Salinas or the Monterey Peninsula. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Smiley is the guest of honor at the dinner hosted by Peter and Sally Smith at Casa Serrano adobe in Monterey. (Smiley is best known for her novels Moo and A Thousand Acres.)
Says Scott Warrington, vice president, University Advancement: "The conversations throughout the evening were stimulating and ideas flowed freely."
