Dr. Dorothy Lloyd, dean of CSUMB's College of Professional Studies, is recognized by Monterey County's Commission on the Status of Women, which honors ten women for dedicating their lives to helping others.

The 2003 Outstanding Women of Monterey County are nominated by members of the community, and the final choices are made by a special committee created by the county commission. Established by the board of supervisors in 1974, the mission of the Monterey County Commission on the Status of Women is to eliminate sex discrimination and prejudice. Lloyd has been with CSUMB since early 1995; she is chosen for the honor based on her outstanding work for the community.
