Music & Performing Arts' Paul Contos, along with four other musicians who constitute the Alegria ensemble, present a demonstration of their talents at CSUMB. Well versed in jazz, Afro-Cuban, and Afro-Brazilian musical styles, the band forges a unique sound, delighting audiences throughout the Bay area. The event is held at the Music Hall on February 20.
Contos, a Santa Cruz resident and part-time CSUMB faculty member, is considered a master at combining technical wizardry and musical fluidity. He has been a favorite of local music fans and jazz aficionados for over 20 years; his woodwind and saxophone artistry continues to impress audiences with his virtuosity, versatility, clarity, and warmth of sound.
